Living in Eternity
Mabley Handler interior design's playroom is green through and through, not only in color but also in its use of environmentally friendly furniture, all by ducduc. Designed for the five-year-old cousins of the fictitious twin boy and girl, the white-painted room features a bold, kelly-green stripe that zips around the walls and ends in a box highlighting six green-tinged photographs of children on canvas, digitally altered to look like Warholesque silkscreens. The artworks hang above a campaign-style daybed sporting a back of faux-leather piping, Custom pillows by Dermond Peterson boasting playful hand-block patterns on 100 percent natural linen add a graphic touch.
Across the room, just under the window well, an activity table with a chalkboard top is a boon to budding artists, Next to the sofa, an alcove contains a campaign style desk for the twins to do their homework or play games on the computer. The carpet, in blue-green pinstripe pattern, was assembled from Flor carpet tiles - 20-inch-square modular panels made from recycled materials, A Geroge Nelson bubble pendant hangs from the ceiling like a hovering spaceship - deft balance of imaginative kids' play and Hamptons sophistication.
